Facebook är del i en konsumistisk samhällelig tendens. Kortsiktighet och “min” egen nytta är ledorden. Individualismen har blivit en industri, och de företag som är verksamma inom den skyr inga medel. Egen profit och inflytande över vår vardag och våra vardagsval är deras mål.
Kritiken mot denna tendens är också stark. Framförallt är det inom dessa områden som vi hittar denna kritik:
